Story

Yusuf started horse riding with Pegasus Riding for the Disabled (RDA) when he was only 8 years old. Immediately he enjoyed the opportunity to ride. Over the years the fabulous volunteer team at Pegasus have encouraged him to overcome any challenges he has faced and have allowed him to develop his riding skills so he can now confidently trot and most importantly have fun! For Yusuf, horse riding is a fantastic activity to help him develop his core strength and confidence.

Yusuf, Junaid and I will be running over the next six weeks to get to 30K.

Pegasus RDA receive no external funding, so they are 100% reliant on grants, donations and fundraising to allow them to continue to provide our life-enhancing activities.

Their biggest outgoings are the upkeep costs of their ponies, Ruby and Tyson, which are around £16,500 a year - They also hire horses to use in their sessions, these horse hire costs are around £5,000 a year.

In addition to the above, they need to fund their core operating costs, amounting to an additional £2,000 each year.

Their little charity is run completely on a voluntary basis - they have no paid staff and 100% of money donated to them is used to fund the essential items .

So proud of Yusuf and Junaid who ran every week with minimal complaints.

A cold Saturday morning and we ran through withington and Didsbury and completed our 5k. It was our best time yet and yusuf kept going and didn’t stop once this time!

Today mum found it harder than the boys did who seemed to be zooming ahead at the end of the 5k. Yusuf has been an absolute trooper and has kept going despite finding running so hard.

We completed another 5k running through West Didsbury and back through withington

We completed another 5k today whilst running through withington village. Junaid seemed to take it quite well with only one stitch in his side but yusuf needed lots of encouraging. He knew that he was running for his horse Carlos so kept going.

We completed our first 5000m! There was a lot of stopping and starting as the boys had stitches but we did it in under an hour. Yes the time isn’t great but the fact the boys kept going despite their feet hurting was fantastic progress!
