This year a group of us are walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Mossburn Community Farm. This is a 38.6km walk with 1,585m vertical ascent.
Mossburn Community Farm provides sanctuary for animals in need, whether they have been neglected, abandoned or their owners can no longer care for them. They give loving care to around 100 animals at any time, in the beautiful Dumfries countryside. Their team of staff and dedicated volunteers ensure that the well-being of their animals is of the highest importance at all times. Mossburn also provides animal assisted therapy which gives a wide range of people many benefits, including helping with anxiety, giving comfort, reducing loneliness and increasing mental stimulation. Learn more about their work and meet some of the animals here.
An average month at Mossburn sees them spend around £1,000 on vets bills and around £800 on feed. That's just in a month. By supporting Mossburn you are helping provide a sanctuary for animals and for the people who visit which is a free resource for anyone to visit. The funds will also allow them to continue with their wide range of animal assisted therapy work.
Your donation will help to fund things like annual vaccinations (for a rabbit this is £50/year), preventative goat and sheep treatments (£250) and all the unexpected things like a goat with bad stomach problems (£278).
A visit to Mossburn is a wonderful experience - please support them to continue the incredible work they do in the community.
If you wish to donate to this cause and want to have a guess at how long you think the walk will take us, please leave your name and your guess on the comments with your donation. The closest guess wins some coffee and some chocolate!
