Brothers David and Duncan Hamilton are driving a specialist vehicle to Ukraine where it will be used to support children traumatised by the war in their country.
Thousands of children are 'internally displaced' in Ukraine and many are traumatised by what they have experienced. Edinburgh Direct Aid were donated the vehicle by David Neely of Synergy Financial Planning and a suitable home has been found with our Ukrainian partner charity, Small Wins.
David, a volunteer with Edinburgh Direct Aid (EDA) for 30 years, has just returned from the country where he was assisting with rebuilding houses in the Kharkiv and Donetsk Oblasts in Eastern Ukraine ). His EDA colleague and acclaimed Edinburgh composer, Nigel Osborne MBE, suggested Small Wins as a suitable recipient as he has been instructing volunteers how to use music to deliver trauma therapy to children.
Duncan is a Member of the Faculty of Advocates, King’s Counsel and Part Time Sheriff. He has previous experience working with NGOs including the National Democratic Institute and LINKS.
Edinburgh Direct Aid isa volunteer charity with no paid UK staff. 100% of all funds raised will go to Edinburgh Direct Aid's Ukraine Relief Fund.
