Story

Amy, Georgia and Lucy are taking on the challenge of running the notoriously challenging Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon, to raise money for St George's Childcare.

St George's is the only nursery locally that is a charity; this enables them to put the children first in all decision making and to reinvest any surplus into improving the setting for the benefit of all of the children. St George's also provide subsidised, sometimes completely free, places for children who are in vulnerable circumstances, all paid for by their community fundraising activities. They work with local authorities, social services, health visitors, the women’s refuge and other organisations, who refer children that would especially benefit, and families that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford childcare. While the children are in St George's care, their families have the time and space they need to move on in their lives; whether it’s receiving physical or mental health treatment, caring for family members with additional care needs, returning to work, or earning extra money for the family.

The race will take place on Sunday 23rd February 2024, starting at 9am at TW Leisure Centre on St John's Road.

Supporting

St George's Childcare

St George’s is an ‘Outstanding’ early years provider, as rated by Ofsted. We are proud to be able to offer this level of childcare to everyone, no matter their background or circumstances. We work closely with social services, health visitors and the women’s refuge to support children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford nursery education. We offer subsidised childcare places to families in need, through our community fundraising. Many children come to us from unstable homes where parents are dealing with difficult issues. While the children are in our care, their families have the time and space to get the help they need to move on in their lives. We were shortlisted for Children’s Charity of the Year 2024, by the Kent Charity Awards, for our positive impact on children and families locally.
