On May 26th 2024 I will taking part in RideLondon-Essex 100, a 100mile cycle from the center of London, out to Essex and back, in order to raise money for TOFs.
TOFs is a charity set up for those born with conditions OA and TOF which stands for Oesophageal Atresia (OA) and Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF). OA/TOF are rare congenital conditions of the oesophagus (food pipe) and/or trachea (airway) that affects 1 in every 3,500 people.
This is a charity which means a great deal to me and my family following the birth of Chester in 2020 who many of you no doubt know due to his larger than life personality, but few will be aware of his conditions and daily struggles.
The charity has helped us greatly with information and literature following Chester's arrival into the world and this ride means so much to me to be able to give a little something back to them. Sara and I was unaware of the condition until Chester was 1 day old when we were informed he was what's known as a TOF kid. We relied heavily on the charity to help us learn of the condition and how to live with it and support Chester.
Chester is doing extremely well and rarely allows his conditions slow him down, the work done by TOFS help this be possible.
Many thanks
Ricky
