Eastborne RNLI
The station was established in Eastbourne in 1822, two years before the Royal National Lifeboat Institution itself was founded. The first boat was provided by Mr John Fuller MP of Rose Hill, Sussex. When he died in 1833 he left the boat “To the inhabitants of Eastbourneâ€. She was built in Eastbourne by Mr Simpson, was 25ft long and pulling ten oars.
The RNLI is an independent charity, funded by voluntary donations. We could not save lives at sea without your support.
Defiant Sports
Our mission is 'Connecting Through Sport', we believe getting and keeping people active is paramount to improving well-being and quality of life. We aim to reach those who have barriers to participation such as disabilities or long-term conditions. Whilst breaking down those barriers and increasing inclusion, we involve the community by asking "What would you like to do?" We also partner with local organisations to create the right activity sessions to engage and support those we are trying to reach. Using local research, knowledge and enthusiasm, combined with low-cost activities and a growing coaching team we are creating a long-term, sustainable community asset.
