The Manorfield Charitable Foundation work in partnership with Manorfield Primary School, a large primary school in Tower Hamlets, east London.
The school is in one of the most deprived parts of the country and serves an underprivileged community.
During the COVID period, we ran an emergency appeal - click here for further details - this enabled us to provide emergency food parcels for families over a sustained period, & helped support us in supporting the children with gaps in their learning as they returned to school after the lockdowns and lengthy school absences.
Sadly, the cost-of-living crisis has again hit our community hard. The need in the community amongst our children is even greater than before.
There is still a need for us to provide families with food
- - we plan to increase the number of families we support with food packages on a weekly basis
- - we are also planning, in partnership with The Felix Project and City Harvest to offer large food distributions to our families on both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve
But in addition to this, our children need a much greater level of support than ever before; & this is at a time when the school's budget is under immense pressure. The cost of living crisis is hitting the school too - through increases in the cost of energy, the cost of food, and the cost of other resources and services.
If we are unable to raise external funds, many of the much-needed, essential resources, services and activities we provide will have to stop. This includes speech and language therapy, counselling support for children with social, emotional and mental health needs, essential residential and day trips, additional reading support, music lessons, new books for children to learn to read and staffing at adequate levels to keep children safe, well and to continue to make excellent progress in all they do.
