I am taking part in the Kingham Primary School REALLY BIG RELAY 2021 on Saturday 24th April.

Please support me by sponsoring me to run my part of the race, and help me hit my target of £50!

Along with 60 other children from Kingham Primary School, and some of our teachers, we are each running a mile - up and down the Cotswolds hills - as part of a giant relay to raise money for our school's STAYING CONNECTED APPEAL to replace old and obsolete IT equipment. We hope to raise enough to get a full class set of 30 iPads so that everyone, from Nursery to Year 6 can use them to enhance their learning at school.

We are almost there - as a school we have raised £6,000 so far and we hope that the Really Big Relay will help us to reach the target of £8,000.

This year the Kingham Primary School Association is fundraising for the Staying Connected Appeal

The Challenge The school's small number of iPads are obsolete - apps don't run and they no longer charge properly. We are raising £8000 to provide 30 new iPads  - this means a class could use them with each child having their own device (which is covid secure - but also much better for learning).

Why does a school use iPads anyway? iPads will help cover areas of the curriculum that Chromebooks can't.  The apps available will help to cover areas of the curriculum which the school is not currently able to easily meet music technology, art (photography) and design technology as well as strengthen potential in other subjects, imagine recording a pod cast or the poem or story you created, or animating a presentation, as well as research opportunities for topic work.

They are really versatile and will cover both Key Stages so every child in every class would benefit and be able to use these new resources.  Using a touch screen is a different skill that the children should be aware of and that those in younger years will find easier to access than typing on a chrome book.

Its an investment in the future We are all surrounded by technology everyday, having the skills to use this properly will be key for every child now, and in the future.
