I am running the Great North Run in aid of a local charity, Here4Horses, which runs completely on passionate volunteers who are dedicated to securing a better life for horses and ponies. Rehabilitation can be a long, expensive road, and since launching during the COVID pandemic and now with the cost-of-living crisis, the need to raise funds to continue the care these second chance equines deserve, is greater than ever.
I am always in awe of the many hours the team at Here4Horses put in and the results show……since starting, the charity has helped secure a future for over 50 horses, but there are still many more out there that need their help.
I am running 13.1 miles not only to raise money for the above reasons, but also to say thank you from a personal experience. My own pony Doogie (a former H4H welfare) had an accident in the field and I will never forget the support I received from Wendy, Nicola & Claire during his rehabilitation from the injury he sustained. I don’t believe he would have had the same outcome if it wasn’t for the part they played and every time I ride him I reflect on this and how lucky I am.
So please donate, 100% of donations impact directly on the horses/ponies under the care of the charity….every penny makes a real difference!
