For the last six months, I have committed to training for the 335 mile cycle from London to Paris in order to raise funds for Mission EmployAble. This charity's aim is to train 12-20 young people with learning disabilities annually, utilising their individual talents and enabling them to obtain paid employment.
The training will be done in partnership with the Buckinghamshire College Group, and housed in the newly built cricket pavilion on Chorleywood common, funded by Mission EmployAble. This charity is unique in offering Maths, English and work experience in one single place of training, with all interns learning together directed by a dedicated trainer.
Currently, there are 1.5 million people with learning difficulties in the UK, of which almost 94% are unemployed or doing voluntary work. Consequently, many are denied the independence, personal satisfaction and social connections that a job provides. Sadly, many find their emotional and physical health negatively affected as a result.
I would like to ask for your help in raising funds to give some of those 1.5 million people the opportunity to achieve their potential and find paid employment.
Thank you for all your support,
Helene
