Hi all, I’m Fran and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2021. As October is breast cancer awareness month, I feel it’s important to share my story with others. I never found a lump but had a constant dull ache for a few weeks and just felt generally under the weather. I dismissed it but I am now very grateful for a friend making me get a referral for a mammogram. Unfortunately, a tumour was found in the duct of my breast and also in my lymph nodes. After some stressful few months, I am now glad to say I have finished all of my treatment but the key to the success was that early diagnosis so that is my advice to anyone. Any doubt get it checked!
Cancer affects everyone in the family and is not only a physical, and emotional bombshell but a financial burden. During your darkest days a light at the end of the tunnel is a blessing and a goal to work towards. That is why I wanted to introduce you to an incredible charity called “Something To Look Forward To” and that is exactly what they provide. Through wonderful donations they “gift” days out, experiences, pamper days, and holidays to families affected by cancer. My family and I were very lucky to benefit from a week away in Norfolk at the end of my treatment so this October I would like to fundraise and give back to this charity. The challenge is to go sober for a month but as I’ve stopped drinking this isn’t too much of a challenge, so I’ll be quitting caffeine for a month instead. I know life is currently financially challenging but if anyone can make any small donations to provide other opportunities to make memories for families affected by cancer, I would be very grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Fran x
