Story

Blazing Saddles 5

We are a group of cyclists that raise money for charity by completing various cycle challenges.

It all started some 10 years ago, when a small group of Firefighters from Oldham Fire Station decided to raise money for charity. The two charities chosen were the Firefighters Charity & SANDS. The latter charity was chosen due to the tragic personal family loss of one of the firefighters.  The event was a success, raising substantial amounts of money for both charities, the riders completing 176 miles in a day visiting the Fire Stations of Greater Manchester. Blazing Saddles was born.

The Blazing Saddles team following their success completed bigger and more challenging events in 2014 (Pure 3 Peaks Challenge), 2016 cycling back from Kranj in Slovenia (Twinned with Oldham) & 2018 saw us cycling to Gibraltar.

Covid subsequently prevented further challenges until now. We are back, with Blazing Saddles 5. We intend to ride from the Coliseum theatre in Oldham to the Colosseum in Rome. A distance of 1450 miles in 12 days. The  Blazing Saddles team comprises of serving and retired Firefighters and several good friends that have joined and supported us over the years.

We are raising money for 5 charities.

Firefighters Charity, SANDS, Back Up (Spinal Injuries), Parkinsons UK and Arts Emergency.

Help us to help these worthy causes by donating today.

A Heart felt thanks from the Blazing Saddles Team

Supporting

Parkinson's UK

We're the Parkinson's charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone.

Our vision - our ultimate ambition - is to find a cure, and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.
The hopes and views of people affected by Parkinson's have helped us form our clear vision for the future. We believe a cure will be found by overcoming the symptoms of Parkinson's one by one.

Our plans for 2015-2019 set out our mission and guide our work to make this vision a reality.
