On Sunday 14th May Andrew Charles a parishioner of St Mary's Church Horsforth will be running the Leeds Marathon in order to raise money to support the work with refugees that Horsforth Chaplaincy project is doing. Andrew is motivated by the gospel of St Matthew. "When I was homeless, did you give me shelter" "So often refugees are the outcasts, demonised in society and my faith tells me Christ would stand with them." Horsforth Chaplaincy's project work is to help Horsforth become a Town of Sanctuary, a place proud to offer welcome and inclusion to refugees and those seeking asylum. At present they are supporting 120 refugees locally, ensuring practical needs are met, organising activities to support well being, building friendships and involving them in volunteering opportunities. You donations will make a real difference to refugees and those seeking asylum locally.
