Story

On April 23rd, 2023, I am excited to be running my first London Marathon! I am running on behalf of Headway East Northants, a charitable UK organization who support, develop, and enrich the lives of adults with acquired brain injury. Brain injuries can occur from a variety of reasons such as disease, stroke, oxygen deprivation, and traumatic blows to the head. Services to assist adults and their families with rehabilitation and/or adapting to a new lifestyle are essential. I have personally and professionally witnessed the devastating impacts of brain injury

MY RUNNING STORY: Historically, I never thought I could run more than 3 miles. After continuing to push myself past my limits for the past 15 years,  I have now completed 4 marathons. Each one has been a huge accomplishment for me and a reminder of how I (we) are often capable of much more than we think. This training will be particularly tough (first solo race, winter, out of shape), so your encouragement and support are appreciated!

MOTIVATION: Overall, I'm running to support those who have been impacted by brain injuries and for those who cannot run themselves. I'm also running this race to continue my journey of better honoring my own brain health.

GOALS: 1) Surpass my fundraising goal 2) Achieve a PR (personal Record) race time; 3) Finish and feel well enough to drink a beer.

SPECIAL FEATURE: Donations of $30 pounds *British Currency (approximately $36 US) are eligible for special mile dedications. Please Sign up here. Thank you and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
