The National Gallery exhibition Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers (14th September to 19th
January) covers the time Vincent spent at Arles and at the Saint-Remy-de-Provence asylum.
Less well-known are the time Van Gogh spent in London and the fact that he was an
avid reader of the novels of Charles Dickens.
Griselda Pollock will exptore the challenging idea that Van Gogh was, at heart, more of a
Victorian than a modern artist.
