The UK’s leading Deaf-led Film & Arts Festival ‘Deaffest’, hosted by award-winning Deaf-led charity Zebra Access CIO, will be taking place in Wolverhampton, UK from 10th to 12th May 2024, where you can Tune in to Deaffest’s 15th Anniversary! 

Marking this special anniversary milestone with a music theme, the internationally recognised festival will be bigger, with a line-up of films showcased both at the festival and via its brand-new online cinema. All this and more, with the support of the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery.

Taking place at the University of Wolverhampton, Arena Theatre and The Halls Wolverhampton, visitors from the UK and across the globe are welcome to explore the festival’s 15th edition which will include subtitled film screenings and accessible events, including an art & photography exhibition, panel discussions, workshops, a stalls fair, and performances, plus the widely anticipated 9th Film and TV Awards Gala and Late-Night Party, with networking opportunities!

Under the festival’s theme, different forms of music will be explored through the skills and talents of D/deaf musicians, filmmakers and performing artists, bringing Deaf talents to the fore where visitors can learn, enjoy, and be inspired by them.

Zebra Access

Zebra Access is a Deaf led charity that aims to develop opportunities for Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing people to have better chances in life by providing access to a range of activities. These include; training and workshops to improve their life skills through provision of support, education and advice. Zebra Access also aims to promote and advocating healthier lifestyles by raising and improving awareness of available activities and other health choices. Alongside this, it aims to raise awareness and improve accessibility to technology, services and facilities. Zebra Access supports and promotes a strong community ethos by encouraging Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing people to become more active within their communities and to work together to tackle common problems, as well as advocate a wider social cohesion. Additionally, Zebra Access also leads and manages an annual Film and Arts festival, which allows Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing performers, communities and film directors to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
