Spear Islington

The charity’s aim is to help disadvantaged young people living in Islington into long term employment. We work with 16–24 year olds many of whom left school without qualifications, come from a household of long term unemployment or don’t have a permanent home. There is a formal programme that involves taking a cohort of 15 young people and putting them through 6 weeks of intensive coaching and then up to a year of mentoring; we will do this 6 times a year so impacting the lives of 90 people. While benefiting local young people we are also looking to work with Islington based companies who can potentially provide resources and employment opportunities. We also want to involve our local community in fundraising and supporting the charity with their time. In this way we want to make a real difference in better integrating our local community.
