Sheffield One World Choir is a life-enhancing and diverse choir within Sheffield, primarily for asylum seekers and refugees.
We want to achieve positive social change through the development of a welcoming and vibrant community choir. We meet weekly to rehearse and socialise and perform regularly at community events. Our performances have included Migration Matters and Tramlines Fringe festivals, the welcoming of Little Amal to Sheffield, and other outdoor festivals.
With choir members from several different African and Middle Eastern countries, our songs reflect that rich cultural diversity and we have an exuberant set list which includes songs in Swahili, Shona, Xhosa, Ndebele, Arabic, Kurdish and English, with many songs composed by the choir members themselves.
