Project Eileen CIO aims to help young people tackle the topics of bereavement, death and grief, taboo subjects largely neglected or skimmed over in secondary schools. Their unique programme of lessons opens up and develops discussion in the classroom to raise awareness, address the stigma, combat isolation and loneliness, build resilience and help reduce the development of mental health issues and complications. In addition, to balance the constant decline of arts education in schools, the Creative and Workshop Versions of the programme give young people the potential to benefit from the restorative qualities creativity can bring to both mental and physical health.
