When Black Retriever X Rescue started in 2007, we specialised in finding homes for Flatcoat lookalikes: long-haired black crosses that were overlooked because they weren't purebred. Today, we help other gundog breeds and collies/collie crosses too (and shhh!... they aren't all black....)
We're a friendly, flexible, science-led rescue, taking a nuanced approach re neutering and making sure we're up to date with kind, modern behavioural techniques.
We help + rehome dogs that originate in the UK/Ireland and pride ourselves on taking time to get to know our dogs and prospective adopters. We use foster homes rather than kennels as we feel this is the best way to assess our dogs.
We currently charge £150 - £375 for our dogs (depending on age) which includes 24/7 lifetime support. This rarely covers our veterinary, transport and assessment costs and we really rely on donations to keep going.
NB: we are a non-profit not a charity, as this works best for us. This means you only have our word for it that we're not holidaying in the Bahamas on your hard-earned cash (although we promise we're not!). We are always happy to provide copies of our accounts should you need reassurance.
