Izzy was diagnosed with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy back in March 2023 at 4 years old. She was taken into our local hospital after deteriorating rapidly and was diagnosed and treated for Sepsis. We were told we were hours away from losing her. Whilst they were completing a number of tests the consultant noticed something wasn't right with her heart scan. Next thing we know we are being blue lighted down to Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
She was subsequently diagnosed with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and spent a week on the paediatric intensive care unit before being moved through to the Rose Ward.
At the moment her condition is stable but we know it is a life long condition which will get progressively worse. There is no cure, but there are ways in which it can be managed, medication, ICD or surgery.
Everytime she gets a simple illness such as a cold we have to watch her like a hawk for our traffic light symptoms.
We attend regular visits to Brompton for tests and to meet with her consultant and she will be under their care for life.
As she gets older there will be a number of normal everyday things which Izzy won't be able to do but that will be a hurdle to cross when we get to it.
She is a happy go lucky 5 year old now, her positive outlook on life is such a beautiful thing. She is BTS obsessed and is getting a fantastic collection together!
We couldn't be prouder of her if we tried, she's our little army alright! 💜🫰
When she was really poorly in hospital she was trying to recruit the nurses to army 🤣
I had a little cry earlier as I cant even begin to put into words what this means to us xx thank you xx
