About

This stunning painting has been donated to Action Foundation by professional wildlife artist, Katherine Rodger, for this special auction raising money to support refugees and asylum seekers in the North East of England during Refugee Week.

It is a beautiful study of Ukraine’s national bird, the White Stork, and incorporates the blue and yellow of the country's flag.

Katherine, who works out of a studio in the Stableblock on the National Trust's Gibside Estate at Rowlands Gill, was inspired to create the artwork by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and her concern for all people forced to flee their homeland.

“It grew out of watching the news and seeing the sheer horror of what was happening and wanting to do something,” Katherine explained. “I did some research on the birds of Ukraine and discovered the White Stork was the country’s national bird and that it symbolises safety and protection and it just seemed a very appropriate subject.”

Updates

Update: The system will automatically notify auction item winners at 3AM the day after the auction has ended. This site has an 'anti-sniping' feature. The anti-snipe time prevents a bidder from trying to place a high bid at the last second, to "beat the clock". If a bid is placed within the anti-snipe time period before the listed closing the closing is extended by the anti-snipe time.
